You Showed Some Spine Hanks - Thanks!

Last week Tom Hanks issued an apology for his poorly chosen slam against Mormons. He admitted his words were divisive and not at all helpful to unifying a society made of so many wildly different factions.Kudos Tom. I may not agree with you on much, but am happy to see you are able to stand up and admit you were wrong.

World at War

I currently have been viewing the epic documentary WORLD AT WAR. What a massive undertaking this was, and how valuable it is to be reminded of the horrific nature of issues left unresolved. This program should be mandatory viewing to every liberal who thinks our unfortunate involvement in a now Democratic Iraq rises to the level of the massive, world wide devastation of WWII. Since the documentary was made in the 70's, many of the 'players' from WWII were still alive and interviewed. It is a fascinating series that is graphic and horrifying, and as accurate and unbiased as possible.

The current state of mind in this country is more than worrisome, when silly groups like 'code pink' are given audience and who wield signs saying that they 'support the killing of troops in Iraq'. Such groups are turning our minds to Jello, and the very great possibility of a huge war as a result of this country's new found Neville Chamberlain politics looms just slightly over the horizon.

I want to support our new president, I want him to earn my trust. So far, I am unimpressed by much, other than that most of what Chicago politics has spat out has been people of poor character. I hope Obama can buck that trend....it is one hurdle he really doesn't need to jump at this point in our fractured country. But him going soft on Hamas, leaving Israel in the lurch, setting up TALKS with a loon like Ahmenidajad is giving credibility to terrorists. Jimmy Carter's latest blooper reel on the matter of Hamas would be laughable if so many lives were not on the line.

We should ALL watch World at War, to get some perspective...it appears our enemies have learned much from it. This country, however, seems too preoccupied with Brangelina and Brittney Spears to learn anything of value from a series that is admittedly very long, grueling and gruesome to watch.

But that is the nature of war.
